The New Year is upon us! Well, at least the New Year for the church. The church recognizes the first Sunday in Advent as the start of a New Year, as we prepare ourselves for the coming of Christ on Christmas day. In order to fully prepare yourself, we are offering a variety of options this coming Advent. Join us for as many of these wonderful opportunities as you would like.
Mondays and Wednedsdays, November 27-December 20 Each week during Advent, we will have two adult studies to work through the the “Faithful: Christmas Through the Eyes of Joseph” study by Adam Hamilton which explores Joseph’s place in the Nativity sotry and the lessons that we can learn from his courageous actions. The Monday study will be from 12:00-1:00pm in the Library, and the Wednesday study will be from 6:30-7:30pm in the Library. Contact Jerre for more information.
Wednesdays, November 29-December 20 – Faith Family Nights Each week during Advent, our children’s ministries will host a family night from 6:30-7:30. Families will work together through the “Faithful: Christmas Through the Eyes of Joseph” study by Adam Hamilton, which will be adapted for family based groups.
Saturday, December 2 – Hanging Of The Greens Join us for a traditional hanging of the greens, as we decorate the Sanctuary, Fellowship Hall, Parlor, and Hallways from 1:30-3:30. Snacks will be provided and Christmas music will be playing throughout the building.

Join us for this free dinner, as our youth cook and serve our Wonderful Wednesday meal in your honor! Dinner runs from 5:30-6:30.
Saturday, December 16 – Youth Progressive Dinner In celebration of the Christmas season, our youth take some time for a wonderful holiday meal. This meal is a great opportunity for youth and adults who do not normally get to know each other to develop relationships across generations as three families from our congregation host various parts of this traveling meal. This progressive dinner is for youth grades 6-12 and will run from 5:00-9:00pm.

Sunday, December 17 – Children’s Christmas Celebration This year, our children’s ministry is teaming with our Joy! Child Development Center for a joint Christmas Celebration. Wednesday, December 20 – Youth Christmas Party During our final RZ of the school year, our youth take some time to celebrate Christmas with a white elephant gift exchange. Youth grades 6-12 are encouraged to bring a gift ($5 or less value) with them to RZ, during which the youth will exchange gifts. Following the gift exchange, our youth will wrap the gifts they have purchased for a local family that we “adopt” for Christmas.
Thursday, December 21 – Longest Night Service Sometimes, the colorfully wrapped presents under the tree, the joyful Christmas music, the shimmering Christmas lights and decorations adorning ordinary places seems too much to handle during these times of our lives as the death of a loved one, the loss of a job or situation or other circumstances loom heavy in our hearts and minds. This service will focus on centering ourselves on the deep richness of the separation of light and dark during the longest night of the year. This worship will be in the Sanctuary from 7:00-7:45pm.
Sunday, December 24- Christmas Eve Day Worship Join us for a special combined worship service at 10:00am on Christmas Eve morning in the Sanctuary. During this worship, we will light the final Advent candle, put the final pieces in the Altar Nativity, witness the 4th Christmas Biblical Character, and enjoy Christmas carols. This worship will be the only service on Christmas Eve morning, and there will be no Sunday School classes.
Sunday, December 24 – Christmas Eve Worship Services Celebrate Christmas Eve at two very special times. The 7:00 p.m. Family Friendly Christmas Eve Worship Service experience in the Sanctuary is designed with families in mind. There will be an important time with children gathering at the Chrismon Tree to hear the Christmas story as they receive a special storybook gift, a meaningful celebration of the Sacrament of Holy Communion, and the lighting of our Christmas Eve candles during the singing of Silent Night. The 11:00 p.m. Traditional Christmas Eve Worship Service is a celebration that incorporates traditional Biblical lessons and the Carols of Christmas. Various talented musicians will share seasonal sacred music. The 12 Bells of Christmas will complete this service.

We will participate in the traditional Wesleyan Covenant Service culminating with the Sanctuary Choir singing a special worship song dedicated for only this day based on the Wesleyan Covenant Service. This worship will be the only service on New Year’s Eve morning, and there will be no Sunday School classes.
